David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Frieda and Roy Furman Stage

Called “a force in the new music world” (New York Times), Face the Music is the country's only ensemble for ages 18 and under that is solely devoted to the music of living composers. Under the direction of Dr. Jenny Undercofler, the ensemble performs “Teen Angst,” an exciting program that includes Michael Gordon’s music from the film Gotham; This is Not Spartacus, a ten-minute musical discourse on mob mentality written by a twelve-year-old member of the ensemble; and Steve Martland’s Horses of Instruction, originally written for new-music ensemble Bang on a Can. This concert is all action—much like the young musicians who are playing it.
