Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana
Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 7:30pm Target Free Thursdays David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Frieda and Roy Furman Stage
Under the direction of Carlota Santana, this special performance celebrates the Company’s 30th Anniversary. These magical dancers, singers, and musicians will celebrate flamenco in all its pride, passion, honor, love, and sorrow. The fiery music and splendid pageantry of flamenco originated in Andalusia, a province in southern Spain, having evolved from the interactions of many cultures over several centuries. The unique interplay among Moors, Jews, Andalusians, and Gypsies has shaped this expressive and culturally-rich folkloric genre. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, founded in 1983, has continued to revel in the traditions of flamenco while bridging today's cultures throughout the world.
Presented in collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
